Stilton Church of England Primary Academy is committed to ensuring it consistently maximises and improves its outcomes for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in line with the latest guidance for delivering excellence within the 0-25 SEND Code of Practice.
This work ensures that our provision consistently meets and often exceeds the requirements on teaching, curriculum and wider policies.

At Stilton Church of England Primary Academy, our mission is to support all children to achieve the best possible educational and wider outcomes so that they can reach their aspirations and make a successful transition into adulthood.
All staff at Stilton Primary are united in our belief that in order to achieve this, we must endeavour to remove any barriers to learning so that every child can access their learning and make progress.
We also value the importance of ensuring that all children with SEND develop as much independence as possible in order to support their development, confidence, resilience and ability to self-scaffold.
This involves high quality teaching and provision that is differentiated and personalised and will meet the needs of the individual. From early identification, children with SEND will receive high quality teaching, support strategies and interventions tailored to their individual needs, which will enable them to achieve their full potential.
We recognise that every teacher is responsible and accountable for all children in their class wherever or with whomever the children are working and fully agree that:
‘High quality teaching that is differentiated and personalised will meet the individual needs of the majority of children and young people. Some... need educational provision that is additional or different from this... Special educational provision is underpinned by high quality teaching and is compromised by anything less.’

We also recognise there may be occasions where, having made all possible reasonable adjustments, it is evident that the needs of a particular child simply cannot be met within our inclusive environment. In such a situation, the child's needs will always come first and we will work closely with our partners to proactively source the very best educational provision for the needs of the individual concerned.
