Year 6

Teacher: Mrs Bartley

Our Changing World

Welcome to a new start in Year 6! We have a busy year ahead of us, but it promises to be filled with exciting challenges and lots of laughs.

We are beginning our journey studying a very prevalent topic - Our Changing World. This term the children are going to look at the effect of human impact and how we can look after the planet. We will be focusing our English on persuading people to; recycle, use less plastic and decrease our carbon footprint.

P.E.

Please make sure the children have their P.E. kits in school all week. We have P.E. on a Monday and Friday.

Children are not allowed to wear earrings for P.E. - please ensure these are removed on the above days.

Reading and Homework

Please ensure the children are reading daily at home. Below is a link outlining 100 books recommended for all children to read before leaving primary school:

https://www.listchallenges.com/tes-100-fiction-books-all-children-should-read

Which one's have you read? Which will you aim to read before Christmas?

Maths homework needs to be completed weekly. The children will receive 36 questions a week, the expectation is that they only do this for half an hour (this is the allocated time they will have during SATs).

Additionally, the children will be given a SPaG or reading paper this term to complete weekly. This should take no longer then 45 minutes.

If you have any questions or concerns about this please feel free to ask.
