Summer Term

Wow Hedgehogs! We can't believe we are in the Summer Term already. This term we are moving on to looking at Evolution in Science and continuing with our work on the British Empire and Democracy. We have uploaded our class newsletter below for you to have a look at.

Our PE days are still Tuesdays and Fridays, so please come dressed in your PE kit for these days. Please can you also make sure you have your reading diaries in school every day.

It is extremely important, now more than ever as we get ready for our transition to Secondary School, that homework tasks set are completed. This enables us to practise the knowledge we have gained in school and keeps it 'ticking over'.

Homework tasks continuing are:

Spellings practise

Tackling Tables practise
Reading daily
SATs Revision book practise (when set)
SPAG. com - tests set
Maths.co.uk - tests set

As always, if you have any questions then please get in touch via Class Dojo.

See you all soon

Mrs Brumby and Miss Mark

Welcome back Hedgehogs!

We can't wait to have you back in the classroom! We have some exciting things lined up over the rest of the term and are looking forward to learning altogether again.
Our 'Curiosity question' this half term is - Can you change the world with a thought, idea or paintbrush?

Our PE days are still Tuesdays and Fridays, so please come dressed in your PE kit for these days. Please can you also make sure you have your reading diaries in school every day.

Can I also make you aware that you do not need to bring in your own hand gel from Monday, as we will be using the ones in school.

Homework tasks continuing:

Spellings practise

Tackling Tables practise
Reading daily
SATs Revision book practise

As always, if you have any questions then please get in touch via Class Dojo.

See you all soon

Mrs Brumby and Miss Mark

Welcome to UPDATED Hedgehogs class.

Virtual Home learning

Spring Term

All worksheets, resources and tasks will be uploaded to Google Classroom. Please let us know if you have any queries about this.

Live Zoom sessions will happen for Maths, English and Reading each day. If you are unable to attend at the times given, then please look back over and watch the video recordings of these. (These will be uploaded to Class Dojo each day).

Online platforms Year 6 will be using to complete their work will be Google Classroom and Class Dojo. The children will also still have access to Tackling Tables to continue with their independent online practise.

The most beneficial lessons for the children to complete are Maths, English and Reading, although we will continue to provide the children with foundation subject lessons so that they can continue to progress with experiences in these areas too.
In addition the children should continue to be:

  • reading for at least 20 minutes a day
  • practising their times tables facts - using the Tackling Tables website – for at least 10 minutes a day

Autumn Term

Welcome To Hedgehogs Class!

We are getting everything ready at school for your return and can't wait to see you all again!

Please find information about our class and our learning journey throughout the page. This will include: the topics we will be learning, expectations and any resources which may be of help, so please do keep checking back to see if we have added anything that may be useful to you.

Mrs Brumby will be with the class Monday, Tuesday and Friday and Miss Mark will be with the class Wednesday and Thursday.

If home learning needs to take place at any point throughout the year again, we will update this page accordingly with further information.

See you all soon.

The Year 6 Team

P.E.

Due to the change in how we are doing things at school, could we ask that on P.E. days children come into school wearing their full P.E. kit please, which they will then wear all day.

We will have P.E. on a Tuesday (outside) and on a Friday (inside).

Children are not allowed to wear earrings for P.E. - please continue to ensure these are removed on the above days.

Reading

Please ensure the children are reading daily at home. Below is a link outlining 100 books recommended for all children to read before leaving primary school:

https://www.listchallenges.com/tes-100-fiction-books-all-children-should-read

Which one's have you read?

Homework

Reading: Please continue to read 4 times a week. Children should continue to log this in their reading logs or on a piece of paper and then hand into the teacher weekly.

Spelling: Every child has been given two copies of the spelling lists with the test dates labelled. So we can ensure that you have received your child’s score, can we ask that you initial it and the children return it to us before the following test. (There is also a copy of the spellings on the class page of the website).

Maths: Please practice times tables with your child – this can be done in a variety of ways including the ‘Tackling Tables’ online site.

In the event that we need to complete home learning again please see the class website for details.
