Autumn Term 1

Our topic this half term is called 'Fire!' - a History based topic where we will aiming to find out about the Great Fire of London. We will look at sources of evidence, such as the diary of Samuel Pepys to learn what it was like in London in September 1666. We will also learn about how London was rebuilt.

We will be making houses this half term and at the end of the half term will set fire to them to have our own 'Great Fire of Stilton'

Please could you save useful materials for this and start sending them into school week beginning the 30th September - thank you!

Reading

We are continuing the fabulous work from Year 1 in terms of children zooming from planet to planet to show they are a 'Rocket Reader'. Children need to read 4 times a week, either at home or at school in order to be a 'Rocket Reader' for that week. We check reading diaries each Friday. Please support your child by enabling them to have the time to read at home and by bringing in reading diaries every day to school. Children are encouraged to change their books as often as they need to so.... keep reading!!

On a Friday afternoon, Robin Class will have the chance to 'get comfy for reading'

Children may bring a book in from home that they wish to share with others or that they wish to simply curl up and look at. The aim of this is to encourage the children to develop a love of reading for pleasure.

PE Kits
We have PE on a Monday and a Wednesday, however PE kits should be in school all week. Could you please ensure all clothing is named - and please check regularly as names soon wash out and fade. A reminder too that long hair needs to be tied back and earrings should not be worn for PE lessons. Please send in water bottles for the children.
