Hi Otters!

Welcome to our class page. Here you will find information about book changing, PE days and what we are learning about this term.

This term our big question is:

What is special about our Church?

We will explore this question further through our RE lessons where we will be wondering 'What is the good news Jesus brings?'

In English we will be reading 'Grandad's Island' and working on our narrative style. In Maths we are going to be learning about multiplication and division, drawing upon our knowledge of addition and subtraction to help us. We will also be learning about fractions. As Geographers we will find out more about the seven continents, asking questions such as 'Which continent is the largest?' or 'Which continent is the coldest?' In Science we will become botanists, exploring the conditions seeds need to be in in order to germinate by growing our own cress. As artists we will be creating paintings of children. In Computing we will be creating digital images which we will then design and make frames for as we explore structures in DT. Our PE lessons will focus on practicing and refining fundamental skills such as running, jumping, throwing and catching. In Music we will explore the themes of 'Ourselves' and 'Our bodies' through music and songs.  We will be learning about Personal Safety in PSHE this term, which includes recognising when we do and don't feel safe, who to ask for help and safe and unsafe secrets. We will also be learning about safe and unsafe touches and that their body belongs to them.  We will learn about the correct names for body parts including  private parts. We will also learn what to do if we feel worried or unsafe online.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs Dabo via ClassDojo.

Please remember all urgent messages, or messages about attendance and changes to pick up/drop off, should be sent to the School Office.

Key information:

PE Days: Monday and Thursday

Please ensure you come to school in your PE kit on these days. Make sure you have warm clothes and suitable shoes in case your lesson is outside.

Rocket Readers: We will no longer be using Rocket Reader certificates but you can still earn your rocket stamps by reading your RWI books 3x at home.

Book changing: RWI books will be changed every Monday by a teacher. Children will also be able to bring home a further phonetically decodeable book and a 'reading for pleasure' book chosen from the book corner. Please remind your children to change their book corner books when you are finished with them. Please note if your child has been moved onto free readers they will be responsible for changing their book independently, please send a Dojo if they have forgotten and we will help them :)

Homework: To support the fantastic progress the children are making in school with RWI phonics, please endeavor to hear them read daily at home.
