Teacher: Mrs Dabo
Teaching Assistants: Mrs McEachern, Mrs Mills, Mrs Woodham
Welcome to your new class page!
Here you will find some useful information about our current topic, as well as key dates for Year 1.
This term, our topic is Enchanted Woodland. Have you ever been to the woods? What did you see? Some people think the woods are full or magic and mystery! What do you think?
In English, we will be revisiting some of our favourite traditional tales, joining in with repeated phrases and learning story language through role play and drama activities. In Maths, we will be focusing on numbers within 10, then 20, to ensure we have a really good understanding of place value. In Science, we will be learning all about animals and be setting up our very own Animal Poo Museum! Our topic has a Geography focus this term, so we will be using songs (in small groups!) and games to learn about the weather and seasons.
Most importantly, we will be taking the first week or two to make sure you come back to school with big smiles on your faces! We can't wait to get to know you all.
I'm looking forward to seeing you soon,
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs Dabo via ClassDojo.
Please remember all urgent messages, or messages about attendance and changes to pick up/drop off, should be sent to the School Office.
PE Days: Monday and Thursday
Please ensure you come to school in your PE kit on these days. Make sure you have warm clothes and suitable shoes in case your lesson is outside.
Rocket Readers: We will no longer be using Rocket Reader certificates but you can still earn your rocket stamps by reading your RWI books 3x at home.
Book changing: RWI books will be changed every Monday and Thursday by a teacher. Children will also be able to bring home a further phonetically decodeable book and a 'reading for pleasure' book chosen from the book corner. We will be reminding them to change these books independently after they have settled back in to Year 1.
Please be patient while we re-assess the children over the next couple of weeks.
Homework: To support the fantastic progress the children are making in school with RWI phonics, please endeavour to hear them read daily at home.
