Teachers: Mrs Dabo (Monday-Thursday) and Mrs Sage (Friday)
Teaching Assistants: Mrs McEachern and Miss Woodham
Welcome to our class page. Here you will find information about book changing, PE days and what we are learning about this term.
This term our big question is:
Why are wolves so naughty?
To answer this question we will be looking at some familiar stories and considering the role of the wolf. We will also use our knowledge of animals to help us.
In Maths we will be revisiting number and counting skills to see what we can remember from Owl class and build upon our existing knowledge. In Science we will be looking at the human body including how different parts our bodies help us make sense of the world around us. In Geography we will become cartographers learning about maps and creating our own. In Art we will be exploring colour including primary, secondary, tints and shades. Through PSHE and RE we will explore the theme of Belonging. Our DT project will be using textiles skills to create fairytale puppets. In Computing we will have an introduction to using the Chromebooks. Our PE lessons will be focusing on fundamental skills and gymnastics.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs Dabo via ClassDojo.
Please remember all urgent messages, or messages about attendance and changes to pick up/drop off, should be sent to the School Office.
PE Days: Monday and Friday
Please ensure you come to school in your PE kit on these days. Make sure you have warm clothes and suitable shoes in case your lesson is outside.
Rocket Readers: We will no longer be using Rocket Reader certificates but you can still earn your rocket stamps by reading your RWI books 3x at home.
Book changing: RWI books will be changed every Monday and Thursday by a teacher. Children will also be able to bring home a further phonetically decodeable book and a 'reading for pleasure' book chosen from the book corner. We will be reminding them to change these books independently after they have settled back in to Year 1.
Please be patient while we re-assess the children over the next couple of weeks.
Homework: To support the fantastic progress the children are making in school with RWI phonics, please endeavour to hear them read daily at home.
