Key SEND terms
Key SEND Terms:
a) A child is classed as SEN support when they are receiving support at Stage 2 (see Provision Map overview in the Policies section). SEN support can be delivered by the school within school, no external agencies are involved.
b) A child is classed as SEN support when they are receiving support at Stage 3 (see Provision Map overview in the Policies section). If external agencies are involved, the school will be following any guidance/advice they have given to support your child.
EHCP: Education, Health and Care Plan - this is a something that can be requested for a child who requires support beyond Stage 2 and Stage 3 of the school's provision map overview. This is applied for by the SENDCo once the required amount of support has been put in place and monitored over a period of assess, plan, do, review cycles.
Provision Map: This document details the provision in place across the school for specific children. You will find a generic overview of all available provision in the Policies seciton of this page however each class teacher generates a class provision map subject to the need within their classes.
SBSP: School Based Support Plan - this is a document that is created for a child once they are accessing Stage 3 of the school's provision map overview (see Provision Map overview in the Policies section). There are occassions when it may be appropriate for a child at Stage 2 to have an SBSP also. The SBSP tracks the individual targets and provision in place for a child. These documents are shared with parents/carers at least 3 times a year.
EHA: Early Help Assessment - this is a document that is completed by school staff to request support from the Local Authority:
a) Family Workers
b) SEND support team (Specialist Teaching Team)
