Hello Owls and Owl parents,
I hope you all had a wonderful half term break and are feeling rested and motivated to start the second part of the Summer term. We are looking forward to welcoming you back and finding out what you have been doing during the holiday.
This half term our learning is based around the question; How do we care for our natural world?
Through this question we will be exploring and learning to be scientists and naturalists by learning about seasonal change, the weather, mini-beasts and animals in our local area, then thinking about endangered animals around the world and how zoos take part in protecting these animals. We will think about how we can personally take care of the natural world and hope to be able to have a class outing to Hamerton Zoo park in July. Please see the Summer B curriculum coverage document below for more information.
You may have heard that the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is changing in September. We have already been using the new curriculum as an Early Adopter school. Please see below for a document which contains the Reception Development matters content which we are using as a basis to plan our teaching and learning, and a document which shows the new Early Learning Goals for the end of the Reception year. We will assessing the children at the end of their reception year against these goals though there is no formal collection of data by the DFE this year due to Covid. You will receive a detailed report for your child at the end of the Summer term to show their achievements and targets for moving into Year 1.
PE will continue to be on a Wednesday so please come into school on this day wearing your PE kits.
Thank you very much,
