Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Lead Teacher: Mrs Reuter  (Mon-Thur)

Teacher: Mrs Cole (Friday)

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Devine (Mon-Fri AM),  Ms Panks (Fri pm) Mrs Paice (Wed pm)

Hello Owls and Owl parents,

In the first half of the Summer term, our learning is based around the question "Where do we live in the world?" Through this theme, we will be learning about the village of Stilton in the past and present and move onto learning about England, the Queen and Royal family, her coronation, the Platinum Jubilee and the government and Parliament. We will go on a walk around the village, meet a historical character from Stilton's past, take part in Maypole dancing and a Platinum Jubilee celebration party.

Please see the curriculum overview and Knowledge organiser below to find out more.

Please continue to practice the RWI phonics sounds and hear your child read their RWI reading books as often as you can. Please continue to share and read stories to them to encourage a love of reading. Please ensure that all reading books are in your child's bookbag everyday.

You may have heard that the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum changed in September. We have already been using the new curriculum as an Early Adopter school. Please see below for a document which contains the Reception Development matters content which we are using as a basis to plan our teaching and learning, and a document which shows the new Early Learning Goals for the end of the Reception year. We will assessing the children at the end of their reception year against these goals.

PE continues to be on a Wednesday so please send your child into school on this day wearing their PE kits.

As the weather improves please provide your child with a sun hat and apply sun cream to them everyday before school.

Thank you very much,

Mrs Reuter
